Observed Change in Global Average Temperature
Figure 34.16
Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing CenterPeter Thorne
This figure appears in chapter 34 of the Climate Change Impacts in the United States: The Third National Climate Assessment report.
Three different global surface temperature records all show increasing trends over the last century. The lines show annual differences in temperature relative to the 1901-1960 average. Differences among data sets, due to choices in data selection, analysis, and averaging techniques, do not affect the conclusion that global surface temperatures are increasing.
