The project is supported by BMBF (German Ministry of Education and Science) and managed by DLR (German Aerospace Center). In 2002, EADS Astrium GmbH was awarded a contract to implement the X-band TerraSAR satellite (TerraSAR-X) on the basis of a public-private partnership agreement (PPP). In this arrangement, EADS Astrium funded part of the implementation cost of the TerraSAR-X system. In exchange, EADS Astrium/Infoterra received the exclusive commercial exploitation rights for the TerraSAR-X data. The satellite is owned and operated by DLR, and the scientific data rights remain with DLR. The satellite has a design life of at least five years. TerraSAR-X is of SIR-C/X-SAR (1994) and SRTM (2000) heritage - DLR SAR instruments flown on Shuttle missions.' description_attribution: https://directory.eoportal.org/web/eoportal/satellite-missions/t/terrasar-x display_name: terrasar-x end_date: 2015-12-01T00:00:00 files: - display_name: TerraSARX_Auto3A.jpg file: 1b/c1/5e8f8241ff587d7bb0608c0ee50b/TerraSARX_Auto3A.jpg href: http://data.globalchange.gov/assets/1b/c1/5e8f8241ff587d7bb0608c0ee50b/TerraSARX_Auto3A.jpg identifier: e42b4835-ab32-4127-9e73-9d6c1f9acbae landing_page: https://directory.eoportal.org/web/eoportal/satellite-missions/t/terrasar-x location: ~ mime_type: image/jpeg sha1: ae963558e9a9713a4d0f7ff77508448d142c7650 size: 64213 thumbnail: 1b/c1/5e8f8241ff587d7bb0608c0ee50b/.thumb-e42b4835-ab32-4127-9e73-9d6c1f9acbae.png thumbnail_href: http://data.globalchange.gov/assets/1b/c1/5e8f8241ff587d7bb0608c0ee50b/.thumb-e42b4835-ab32-4127-9e73-9d6c1f9acbae.png type: file uri: /file/e42b4835-ab32-4127-9e73-9d6c1f9acbae url: http://data.globalchange.gov/assets/1b/c1/5e8f8241ff587d7bb0608c0ee50b/TerraSARX_Auto3A.jpg href: http://52.38.26.42:8080/platform/terrasar-x.yaml identifier: terrasar-x instruments: - description: GNSS radio-occultation receiver description_attribution: GNSS radio-occultation receiver identifier: gps-radio-occultation-system-2 name: GPS Radio Occultation System uri: /instrument/gps-radio-occultation-system-2 - description: Imaging radar (SAR) description_attribution: Imaging radar (SAR) identifier: x-band-synthetic-aperture-radar-2 name: X-Band Synthetic Aperture Radar uri: /instrument/x-band-synthetic-aperture-radar-2 name: TerraSAR-X parents: [] platform_type_identifier: spacecraft references: [] start_date: 2007-06-15T00:00:00 type: platform uri: /platform/terrasar-x url: http://www.terrasar.de/
