It provides a daily cloud-free field of foundation sea surface temperature at approximately 10km resolution (0.1 degree) over the full globe. It is generated by merging microwave and infrared satellite sea surface temperature observations including those from the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR), the Advanced Along Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR), the Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager (SEVIRI), the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer-EOS (AMSRE), the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission Microwave Imager (TMI) and the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) Imager. The satellite SST observations are intercalibrated using the AATSR sensor as a reference (previously re-calibrated using all available in situ data). The development of the global real-time sea surface temperature at Ifremer/CERSAT is supported by European Commission initially in the frame of MERSEA project.' description_attribution: http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/EUR-L4HRfnd-GLOB-ODYSSEA display_name: GHRSST Level 4 ODYSSEA Global Foundation Sea Surface Temperature Analysis doi: ~ end_time: ~ identifier: nasa-podaac-eur-l4hrfnd-glob-odyssea lat_max: 80 lat_min: -80 lon_max: 180 lon_min: -180 name: GHRSST Level 4 ODYSSEA Global Foundation Sea Surface Temperature Analysis native_id: EUR-L4HRfnd-GLOB-ODYSSEA processing_level: ~ publication_year: ~ release_dt: 2011-01-21T17:10:13 scale: ~ scope: ~ spatial_extent: ~ spatial_ref_sys: ~ spatial_res: ~ start_time: 2007-09-30T12:00:00 temporal_extent: ~ temporal_resolution: ~ type: dataset uri: /dataset/nasa-podaac-eur-l4hrfnd-glob-odyssea url: http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/EUR-L4HRfnd-GLOB-ODYSSEA variables: ~ version: ~ vertical_extent: ~ - access_dt: ~ attributes: ~ cite_metadata: ~ data_qualifier: ~ description: 'Sea Surface Temperatures (SSTs) are derived from the series of Geostationary Environmental Satellites using GOES Imagers with five-band multispectral capability,10 bit precision and high spatial resolution. The GOES 6km Near Real-Time data set consists of Level 3 SSTs derived from GOES East and GOES West with a spatial resolution of approximately 6km. Generally there are several GOES satellites in geosynchronous orbit at any one time viewing different earth locations including the GOES-11 launched 3 May 2000. The radiometer aboard the satellite, The GOES I-M Imager, is a five channel (one visible, four infrared) imaging radiometer designed to sense radiant and solar reflected energy from sampled areas of the earth. The multi-element spectral channels simultaneously sweep east-west and west-east along a north-to-south path by means of a two-axis mirror scan system retuning telemetry in 10-bit precision. For this Group for High Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) dataset, skin sea surface temperature (SST) measurements are calculated from the far IR channels of GOES-11 at full resolution on a half hourly basis. In native satellite projection, vertically adjacent pixels are averaged and read out at every pixel. L2P datasets including Single Sensor Error Statistics (SSES) are then derived following the GHRSST Data Processing Specification (GDS) version 1.5. The full disk image is subsetted into granules representing distinct northern and southern regions.' description_attribution: http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/OSDPD-L2P-GOES11 display_name: GHRSST Level 2P Eastern Pacific Regional Skin Sea Surface Temperature from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) Imager on the GOES-11 satellite doi: ~ end_time: 2011-07-10T14:55:27 identifier: nasa-podaac-osdpd-l2p-goes11 lat_max: 60 lat_min: -45 lon_max: -110 lon_min: -180 name: GHRSST Level 2P Eastern Pacific Regional Skin Sea Surface Temperature from the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellites (GOES) Imager on the GOES-11 satellite native_id: OSDPD-L2P-GOES11 processing_level: ~ publication_year: ~ release_dt: 2011-01-21T17:10:13 scale: ~ scope: ~ spatial_extent: ~ spatial_ref_sys: ~ spatial_res: ~ start_time: 2006-12-22T00:30:00 temporal_extent: ~ temporal_resolution: ~ type: dataset uri: /dataset/nasa-podaac-osdpd-l2p-goes11 url: http://podaac.jpl.nasa.gov/dataset/OSDPD-L2P-GOES11 variables: ~ version: ~ vertical_extent: ~ display_name: geostationary-operational-environmental-satellite-11/imager href: http://52.38.26.42:8080/platform/geostationary-operational-environmental-satellite-11/instrument/imager.yaml instrument_identifier: imager location: ~ parents: [] platform_identifier: geostationary-operational-environmental-satellite-11 type: instrument_instance uri: /platform/geostationary-operational-environmental-satellite-11/instrument/imager
