Soil Moisture Microwave

It combines radiometer-based products from SMMR (November 1978–August 1987), SSM/I (July 1987–2007), TMI (1998–2008), and AMSR-E (July 2002–2010) with scatterometer-based products from ERS- 1/2 (July 1991–May 2006) and ASCAT (2007–2010). The datasets are merged based on their relative sensitivity to vegetation density.
