The multi-model mean difference in the number of days with total precipitation exceeding the historical (1971-2000) 98th percentile under the higher emissions scenario (A2) for 2041-2070 relative to 1971-2000 was plotted for the U.S. Great Plains.
1. For each model at each grid point, the 98th percentile threshold value of total daily precipitation was calculated for 1971-2000. 2. For each model at each grid point, the number of days with total precipitation exceeding the threshold value for 1971-2000, under the higher emissions scenario (A2), was calculated for two periods: 1971-2000 and 2070-2099. 3. At each grid point, the mean number of days with total precipitation exceeding the threshold value was computed for both time periods by averaging the following models: - cgcm3_t47 - cgcm3_t63 - cnrm - echam5 - echo - gfdl_2.1 - hadcm3 - pcm 4. At each grid point, the difference in the number of days with total precipitation exceeding the threshold value was calculated for 2041-2070 minus 1971-2000. 5. Data were plotted for all grid points in the U.S. Great Plains.
